The Story of The Hester

“……. she was utterly blown away when Kellie created the ‘Hester’. A sweatshirt and t-shirt celebrating ADHD.”

When both of Hester’s children were diagnosed with ADHD last year, during the assessment the psychologist asked if Hester had ADHD too.

Having read a lot about it, Hester had wondered if she did, but just assumed that everyone talks a lot, finds it hard not to interrupt people, has difficulty sitting still, gets easily distracted…the list goes on. But it turns out they don’t.

So Hester got an official diagnosis of combined ADHD (meaning she is both hyperactive and inattentive) and finally she started to seek some answers.

Why she had failed her maths GCSE not once, but three times.

Why she had to work so much harder than her peers at university and why she has had 30 full time jobs as she gets bored so quickly.

But also the positives.

Why she loves meeting and chatting to new people, why she has a lot of energy and is very creative and why running a business with her husband Kelly works for her.

Hester and Kelly launched Perfectly Autistic three years ago and offer autism and ADHD support, training and webinars for organisations. Kelly and both of their children are also autistic too; they are a truly neurodivergent family.

Hester and Born Anxious

Hester read about Kellie and her amazing work at Born Anxious a few years ago and the two just clicked!

So when Hester was diagnosed with ADHD, she told Kellie, knowing she would understand, but she was utterly blown away when Kellie created the ‘Hester’. A sweatshirt and t-shirt celebrating ADHD.

A fan of bright colours and leopard print, the original pink sweatshirt couldn’t have been more fitting, and now that the range is expanding, being a former personal stylist and magazine editor, the clothing range is all Hester could have wished for and more!
