Born Anxious and My Own Kind Of Music

Born Anxious has collaborated with My Own Kind of Music, a clothing label all about empowerment and reminding people of the beauty and uniqueness that their own story possesses.

My Own Kind of Music (MOKOM) was founded by Beth Kume-Holland, a young female entrepreneur who works to raise awareness of invisible disabilities and challenging the public perceptions of disability. Beth lives with fibromyalgia and other chronic health conditions and she started ‘My Own Kind of Music’ following a very difficult experience as a disabled professional and graduate of both Harvard and Oxford University. The aim of the label is to remind people that chronic illness or health conditions are not something you should have to overcome or emerge heroically from. It’s about embracing your true self, seeing that there is a place for you and remembering that you are not alone, no matter how hard things may seem sometimes.

This is the same ethos that underpins Patchwork Hub, the accessible employment platform and growing global brand that Beth founded and runs. Patchwork Hub promotes accessible work opportunities that enable their community to find work and thrive.

The social enterprise is working to enable a hidden talent pool, from disabled people through to carers and parents, to find work and thrive, while raising awareness and empowering employers to lead a culture change in work, health and accessibility.

We are thrilled to launch this new collection and can’t wait to bring these products to you.

About The Collection

We wanted to create chic and stylish items that would empower their owner on a down day and remind them of the power that their own unique story possesses. Our items are not just about looking awesome, but about sparking a conversation! Too often comfort gets sacrificed for style, so we wanted to create products that people would be proud to wear out and about, but also when stuck at home with poor health or sensory difficulties.

Although we hope this collection will have a special place for others with lived experience of disability or chronic illness, we wanted to create items for everyone with a universal message of empowerment, kindness and sustainability.

We understand that everyone might want different personalisations or the opportunity to raise awareness of our brands, so we have given the opportunity for you to personalise the products with branding or colours as you like.
