Introducing The Lucy’s Smile Range

Lucy’s name means ‘bringer of light’ and she’s been shining hers brightly since the day she was born! She’s a genetic one off and although that’s meant she’s had to face lots of medical challenges and therapy since she was a baby, she always bounces back and her smile never fades.

Lucy loves playing music and has even been a recording vocalists with musicians and artists. She also loves swimming, the beach, cake (especially chocolate) and dressing up. Which is why having her own clothing range with Born Anxious is high up on her list of ‘special’ moments.

Lucy worked with her mum and dad, choosing colours for t-shirts and hoodies and they used words that describe how Lucy makes them feel.

This special range is a joyful, fun collection of clothes to make you smile. Rocking a 70’s vibe (inspired by colours Lucy’s mum and dad wore when they were kids) the range is bright and happy, like wearing a ray of sunshine, which is what Lucy is.

We hope this range makes you smile and brings light into your life, like Lucy does to those who know her.

All profits from the sale of Lucy’s Smile range go to Demelza Children’s Hospice, where Lucy stays for little holidays and takes part in weekly music club online. For more information on their amazing work go to: https://www.demelza.org.uk/

Demelza delivers extraordinary care to extraordinary children who are facing serious or life-limiting conditions, throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

Demelza is here to support them and their families at every step – from first diagnosis and for as long as they are needed with care that doesn’t back down. By their side when they feel isolated, helping to celebrate the joy in family life and making precious memories during challenging times.

The charity was founded over 25 years ago and is named after Demelza, who inspired the creation of the first hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent. Demelza supports families when and where needed most: in hospices, in homes, in local communities and online.

With two residential hospices in Kent and South East London and a community hub in East Sussex, Demelza goes beyond providing outstanding clinical care and emotional support. The charity helps children explore their creativity, have fun and make memories. They offer activities and therapies, sensory spaces, outdoor areas and even a hydro pool in Kent for families to enjoy.

Bespoke emotional support and therapies are provided in person and online. For individuals, families or as group sessions, this support helps families to connect. They provide practical support, which includes driving to hospital appointments, as well as other short-term and one-off activities. This is offered to all Demelza families. Community care teams, who provide support services in the family home, enable parents to have time to relax, knowing their child is with professionals. Community care sessions are personalised, with fun activities and sensory aids, centred around a child’s specific needs. Experienced nurses also work with other healthcare professionals to provide clinical care, including end of life care for children, should they wish to stay at home. Support services include:

Day care • Short breaks • Community care • Support during pregnancy • Family liaison and support • Sibling support • Creative therapies • Bereavement services • Symptom management and step-down care • Practical support • Transition • Memory making • End of life care
