Speak Up, Don’t Man Up

Born Anxious are privileged to be collaborating with @adhdfatheruk and @one.tuff.muvva.

Here is what they have to say….

I’m honoured and so proud to be working with born anxious and Tough Muvva on this project to highlight male mental health as it’s a subject very close to my heart.

In July 2019 I was at my lowest, struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts I thought nothing would ever improve but once I started to open up and share what I was experiencing with my loved ones through talking everything became manageable which began my recovery journey.

For me talking openly and shame free about my thoughts, feelings and emotions really helped me to feel less alone, it also helped me to meet others who had been through similar experiences which really helped smash the shame and guilt I was feeling as a Dad and Husband.

Three years on I’m in a fantastic place with my mental health and wellbeing and met so many amazing inspirational people along the way such as Amy aka Tough Muvva who shares the same passion as mine to smash the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health.

All profits from this t-shirt will go towards creating a short film to highlight perinatal mental health and reduce the Shame and stigma many parents still face, the film will involve hearing stories from parents with lived experience of perinatal mental health.

We hope the short film will be shared widely and offered to parents at the beginning of their recovery journey as vision of hope and recovery.

One Tuff Muvva is a label promoting strength and promotion of good mental health. It was set up by Amy Steele, senior designer at FunkyPigeon.com, an inspirational woman who suffered severe PND after the birth of her daughter and was hospitalised and although still in recovery has rebuilt herself.

She promotes well-being, strength and Mental Health Charities through her own Label One Tuff Muvva and is now delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with Jacob aka adhdfatheruk and use their shared, lived experiences to empower, encourage and inspire others…in particular men with this campaign to ‘speak up, don’t man up!’
