Born Anxious is a homegrown clothing label with two objectives, to make the clothes as comfortable as possible, whilst also remaining planet friendly, and to hold important information that will aim to help not only the child, but also the caregiver as well when required. As an autism mum myself, I have thought about what could help me and other caregivers whilst trying to be as generic as possible within the designs, alongside giving those the opportunity to personalise their products as well.
We are delighted to be teaming up to raise awareness of our fundamental values of inclusivity and creating a world where people are given the opportunity to to thrive, rather than simply survive. Born Anxious is an official partner of Patchwork Hub and proud to support a disabled-led enterprise and growing global brand on a mission to close the disability employment gap.
We have collaborated with Patchwork Hub founder, Beth Kume-Holland, on her own clothing label, My Own Kind of Music (MOKOM), to create these brand new designs which embody the values of our customers. We wanted to spread the word of our social mission whilst raising awareness of the important of being your own authentic self and the beauty and power that your own unique story possesses.
When founder Beth Kume-Holland’s chronic health conditions left her unemployed, it was through disability advocacy work and meeting others in her position that she developed the vision for Patchwork Hub. Patchwork Hub was born out of a realisation that traditional office-based work practices needlessly exclude many individuals who could thrive in work if they were given more flexibility to work in a way that fitted their circumstances.
Now, the disabled-led social enterprise is a growing global employment platform and startup connecting employers to highly-skilled professionals who are seeking work opportunities outside of the traditional 9-5 office job.
The global pandemic has validated that a person can work effectively and produce astonishing results, even if they can’t leave their home. We know that remote working works but one missing piece remains. The disability employment gap is growing rather than shrinking. Patchwork Hub is working to reverse this trend and proposes a mainstream recruitment solution that is accessible and inclusive for all.
