Born Anxious is a homegrown clothing label with two objectives, to make the clothes as comfortable as possible, whilst also remaining planet friendly, and to hold important information that will aim to help not only the child, but also the caregiver as well when required. As an autism mum myself, I have thought about what could help me and other caregivers whilst trying to be as generic as possible within the designs, alongside giving those the opportunity to personalise their products as well.
During our first year we have met some inspirational and motivating people who share our mission to break down barriers.. This has led to many discussions around collaborations and how our clothing and ethos can work with them.
One such project is Lily’s Community, which we were introduced to as Lily’s Bistro in Canterbury. Our discussions led to a collaboration for a solution to their work wear.
Our carefully selected kind clothing clothing together with their branding create comfort and unity and a great look.
“Lily's are an independent, family owned Bistro and Catering business. Based in the heart of Canterbury, we are inspired to bring each and every person who walks through our doors food you would experience in Grandmother’s kitchen.
Established in 2017, Mother and Daughter duo Zoe and Kiera Rodda wanted to create a community based around people from all walks of life; no matter where they are from, what language they speak, or what disability they may hold. Using the power of food, our mission is to use food to bring people together.
To do this, they are offering employment and work experience opportunities to people who are homeless, have mental health problems, have a learning disability or may have committed a crime.
By doing this, they are breaking down the invisible barriers that are apparent for people who face challenges getting into employment. To do this, they are dedicating much of their time working alongside Porchlight and bemix. “
